For my daughter's 6th birthday, we decided to use the "Grease Theme". We rented a local building. The invitations were made on the computer to look like actual records.  I handmade the envelopes to look like album covers. The invitations read: "Calling all T-Birds and Pink Ladies. Put on those poodle skirts, T-shirts, rolled up blue jeans and saddle shoes and come join the fun! Frosty Palace will be serving hamburgers and root beer floats, "Grease" will be the Feature Presentation and Rydell High will host the National Bandstand Dance-Off contest.  Where: Rydell High (i.e. Jasmine Hall), When: , Time: , Guest of Honor: Name (it's her 6th birthday)" The hall was divided into 3 sections.  Frosty Palace (where we served all of the food), Rydell High (where the dance contest was), and the Drive-In where the photos were taken (we made a '57 chevy out of plywood and painted it and the kids sat behind it for photos - this is what I used later to make the thank-you cards). We had hamburgers and root beer floats, and then the cake was a large "record" and 2 small "records". The colors used were pink, black and Aqua. I made banners for different areas of the room (the entrance had a banner saying "Welcome Rydell High Class of 1959", there was one hung over the "Frosty Palace", the "Drive-In" and where the "National Bandstand Contest" was held.  We also hung a "Happy Birthday" banner up.  I also made signs for the restroom which read "Pink Ladies" and "T-Birds". For decor we used lots of balloons, records made from construction paper and hung from the ceiling and photos of the actual grease movie that i printed off of the internet and glued onto construction paper and hung on the walls.  The goodie bags were made out of brown lunch bags - the girls had "Pink Ladies" on theirs and the boys had "T-Birds" on theirs.  I bought cat-eye glasses and hot-glued fake jewelry on them for the girls and gave the guys black glasses.  For the games we played hula hoop, limbo and bubble blowing contest.  The prizes given were CD's that i copied of the actual "Grease" CD and put a customized label on thanking them for coming. For the best dressed boy and girl i gave them paper crowns and named them prom queen and king.  Everyone had a blast!
