For my daughters 11th birthday party we used the 50's theme. The invitations were sent out on fake 45 records, that we made. Each child was to wear their best 50's garb, because we had a prize
for the best dressed. The girls wore poodle skirts and saddle oxfords, with scarves tied around their necks. The boys mostly dressed up like miniature Fonzies. We decorated our living and
adjoining dining room like a sock hop. Which they danced to Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and others. They dined on hamburgers and fries in baskets, and drank root beer floats. For the cake, I
bought a big round thin aluminum cookie pan. I made the cake to look like an album. I cut out a round of cardboard for the center, and used a fork to go around the cake to make it really look
like an album. Some of the games we played, were a Happy Days trivia, hula hoop contest, and a bubble gum blowing contest, all things popular in the 50's. For treats we gave dark glasses,
bubble gum, combs, ponytail holders and things like that. the party was a great success.
