Since my daughter enjoyed singing songs from the 50's in the bath tub, I decided to have a fabulous 50's first birthday party. Everthing followed the theme.
The invitations were bordered with black and white check and had a poodle dog in one corner and an ice cream float in the other. Guests were encouraged to wear poodle skirts and leather jackets. I covered the island bar with black and white checked paper- so help make the house feel like a diner. I downloaded music from the fifties and played it during the party. The guests enjoyed hamburgers from McDonald's (started in the 50's) served on red plastic trays with fries served out of red plastic baskets. In addition to the cupcakes they ate coke floats- with small glass bottled coke. Guests enjoyed playing with the hula hoops outside. And dancing to the music inside. The gift bags" which were actually red and white striped popcorn boxes included: yo-yo's tootsi rolls kazoos silly putty (all popular in the 50's) Younger guests were given wooden pull toys rather than yo-yo's. I found a sweater with a poodle and matching skirt for my daugher to wear. The kids and the adults alike had a great time. "
