We are having an Alice in Wonderland tea party for my daughter's 6th birthday. We handmade the invitations using some Disney stamps that we colored with colored pencils, the invites will read,
"It's your un-birthday and we're having a party!" details and then , "Don't be Late for this Important Date!" We will decorate as close to the tea party scene as we can;
Chinese paper lanterns, mix and match chairs, mix and match tea pots, pink tablecloth, and multi-colored paper products.
Our daughter will dress as Alice. When the guests arrive, they will go to a craft center where they will make picture frames. The frames are heart shaped and say "All Hail the Queen", they will be decorated with sparkles, hearts, and miniature playing cards. We will take a polaroid of each child with our "Alice" to put in the "Queen of Hearts" frames as a keepsake. We will play "croquet" the Queen's way with inflatable flamingos and mini beachballs. The guests will try to get their ball through the "wickets" which we have made out of large posterboard playing cards. Our Kindermusik teacher will then read a story and play some Alice-themed music games and sing some songs from the movie. We have purchased miniature teapots (ebay) for each of our guests. We have painted mini tea cups with each guests name and a tag that reads "drink me"; they will serve their own lemonade throughout the party. We have little white gloves for everyone to wear for "tea". We will serve tiny sandwiches, fruit, and chips. For the celebration, we have made tiny cakes for each guest that say "eat me"; the birthday girl will have a bit bigger cake. We will sing "A Very Merry Un--birthday" to her guests and then "Happy Birthday" to her. The tea pots, cups, and gloves will be take-home favors and we'll add some Alice stickers, tiny playing cards, and Un-birthday pencils.
