Alice in Wonderland Party...
This is a great party for little girls. Invitations are sent in the shape of playing cards made out of construction paper. "You are invited to an adventure in Wonderland..." The food served at the party is all tea party food, tiny sandwiches and petite fours. The kids drink iced tea or apple juice out of tea cups. They play croquet, musical chairs, have a circular race (with an ending, unlike in the book) and play toss the lobster (plastic lobsters, played like a ring toss but trying to land on a target.) For dessert, you can make cupcakes and decorate them like mushrooms, with white icing and red spots, with a gummy worm on the top to represent the catepiller, or make the mushrooms out of merengue (Martha Stewart has a recipe and top with a marzipan catepiller.) In the gift bags, serve little cookies that say "Eat me" on the icing, 'squeeze it' fruit drinks that have tags on them that say "Drink me," little bubbles, a deck of cards, a plastic watch, a cheap fan (from the Asian import store) like the one the white rabbit has, and little white gloves (available at costume shops.) the guests can all dress up like characters from the story or they can dress like up for a tea party.
