Although my daughter was only turning one, she had an older brother, older cousins and appreciative grandparents, and aunts. We had an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party. I made a
"teapot" cake, using a cake baked in two bowls and then a marzipan handle and spout. I spray painted an old fashioned key gold and quoted that part of the story on a pretty
notecard.
We had little cakes and cookies w/ notes that said "Eat Me" and plastic juice bottles from the supermarket and tied notes that said "drink me" We borrowed teapots and tea cups and the centerpiece was pink and white chocolate roses on lollipop sticks (I use a candy mold I had) I wrapped them w/ pink cellophane and tied dainty ribbons around them and placed them in my prettiest crystal vase. This doubled as favors for the mom's to take home. I found "Alice" character cut outs and placed them around the room and baked and iced heart-shaped sugar cookies w/ a quote from the story "and the Queen of Hearts she baked some tarts..." Of course we served tea sandwiches on tea plates and scones w/ lemon curd. We decorated the table w/ lace tablecloths and pink tulips and served the tea w/ sugar cubes. Every one had a fun time playing make-believe.
