For my daughter's 12th birthday, we decided to have an Amazing Race Party. We made up several road blocks and tried to word them as they do in the show. TAKE THE HIGH ROAD OR TAKE THE LOW
ROAD" For the high roadparticipants must first learn how to walk on stilts then each player must walk a pre-determined distance on the stilts. (there were 4 people on each of 3 teams)
For the low road each player must run to the back of the yard and retrieve a flag from a tree and bring it back to the next player lke a relay. Brains or braun. We had team mates try to
solve a very long mathematical equation.
The numbers were then matched to letters in the alphabet to spell the word MAILBOX where they found their next clue. We had 2 large sets of keys 15 keys on each chain (we asked friends and family if they had old keys around and taped their names to the keys) each player had to unlock one of our 2 clothes lines and haul in their next clue then sent the basket out again and relock it. We had players hauling dirt in wheelbarrows across our yard we had team mates trudging through our creek to find their next clue. We live rurally but clues could easily be geared towards a suburban location. You could go to a local park and do it there. Stilts are pretty easy to make. You could have players have to turn over rocks on a gravel driveway until they fing one with a logo on the back. Remember the longer you make each problem the easier it is to shake up the standings. We needed one adult for each area so you will want to enlist some friends to help but we all had great fun! "
