American Girl Kirsten Party for 7 year olds.
I sent out homemade invitiations in which I cut out different colored and different patterned square pieces of paper. I wanted it to look like a quilt. I asked the girls to bring a doll with them to the party. It didn't have to be an American Girl Doll. Some of the girls wore matching dresses with their dolls. Party: As the girls arrived to the party, they came into the dining room where they put together their own paper quilt. I had pre-cut square white pieces of paper and they decorated them with crayons. They then used double sided tape and attached it to a large colored sheet of construction paper. I also asked the girls to make one with each of their faces on it. I put them together to make a special quilt card for my daughter. When the girls finished this activity, they made rag dolls, similar to the ones pioneer girls made. I tried to think of ideas from what I thought happened in 1854. Next activity was a clothes pin doll. Before they went out, they each helped make a special dessert, Apple Dumplings. Outside activities: Tag Giant pick-up-sticks Red light, Green light What's in my Basket A, B, C, etc... Name food products Picnic outside with real china cups, saucers, and plates. We had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, apple dumplings and apple cider. Then the girls came inside and sat in a circle. As each girl gave my daughter a present, she talked about the Doll or American Girl Doll that she brought with her. The girls then had one last activity, making quilt cookies. I cut out giant squares from cookie dough. Each of the girls then decorated the cookies. They looked so beautiful all together. Goody bags: Miniature tea sets. All of the dolls that they made. Plus, the cookies they made. Next year, a different American Girl Era. The girls had a great time and want to have another party.
