Our theme was an American Girl craft party. I started by taking a picture of her favorite doll and created invitations on the computer. It said, Grab your doll and come with me. We are going
to have an American Girl Party!
I listed the date, time, etc. For decorations I set up 3 card tables with bright pink table clothes. We had balloons on each chair and my daughter put her dolls around the room. The birthday girl dressed like her doll and as the guest arrived they got flower headbands I made using silk flowers from Michaels. I was able to make 3 headbands from each $1 stick of flowers. I got my idea from http://www.dollclothespatterns.net/doll-clothes-patterns/doll-clothes-patterns-make-a-headband-for-your-doll The girls and their dolls had ADORABLE matching headbands. The girls started by making matching friendship bracelets. Michaels also has giant bags with small and large beads for under $5 a piece. I pretied the strings and cut them to make it go smoother. The next craft was scarves. I cut two colors (we choose teal/pink fleece) 6 inch wide for girls and 3 for dolls. I sewed the two colors together with a straight line down the middle. With scissors the girls cut 1/2 strips down both sides. These are fluffy, colorful winter scarves. I premade the girl scaves, they created the doll ones. Next, we made matching TuTu's using the directions from http://www.ehow.com/how_2072479_nosew-tutu.html I made the big girls, and modified the length by cutting 12 inch long by 3 inch wide strips for the dolls. The girls tied the doll tutu's. Last, we decorated cupcakes and mini cupcakes for the dolls. The girls had pink sherbert punch in Champagne cups from the Dollar Tree. I took a group pic and had a copy made from Sam's with a flower boarder. This was a great party. The girls left with matching headbands, braclets, scarves, and tutu's. This was not an expensive party either. I cut cost by using dollar store plates, and with all the craft materials, invitations and cupcakes we had 13 girls for $150.
