At home American Girl Party for 8 yr. old daughter. After we took my daughter to the American Girl Store in NYC during Christmas break for brunch , she wanted me to create a similar party for her friends at home for her birthday. Each girl brings a doll of her choice to the party. The girls decorate party hats with stickers for their doll. After this the girls sit at the table where there is a question box that is passed around the room with questions. The questions can be "what was your favorite summer trip?", "what is something you like to do?", "say something nice about the birthday girl".etc. Next the girls are served mini fooods such as pigs in a blanket and mini sandwiches and mini pizza. Table wear is striped plates with a hair scrunchie around the napkin to put in the dolls hair later. I made tables for the dolls using terra cotta pots turned upside down with a summer plate glued to the top. Two dolls can sit per table and the tables are lined up to form a long row. My daughter's Nellie doll sat on a wicker bench that was decorated for a party with Coconut (I made a fun foam hat for the dog). The girls decorated a wooden large box with the doll's name, fun fur and jewels. On the boxes I put wooden balls on the bottom to look like a dresser for the dolls accessories at home. Small tea cups and plates were decorated by the girls to take home(Rose Art tea set kit) and I had mini tea cups ,plates and spoons on each doll table for the dolls and girls to take home. The girls made a small purse for their dolls as well (Oriental Trading). Dessert was a chocolate tea cup I made and filled with pudding, a mini black/white cookie and mini cake I made for each girl. Each girl then went to a table to get her own hair done (after doing their dolls) with hair pieces they took home, then got their nails polished and got a stick on tatoo. Each doll was given a balloon on a stick to wrap on the dolls hand and inside small decorative bags I made a fleece poncho and hat for the girls doll to take home. Each girl received a pastel bag with their name on it filled with hair clips, lipgloss, a glow stick ,doll accessories and they also took home the hat, balloon, poncho and tea set for their doll and the wood chest and tea set they painted. The party was 3 hours long.
