American Girl Tea Party: 9 year old.
Coconut, the American Girl dog, was our main theme. My daughter's birthday is in February so we were able to also incorporate some Valenetine decorations into our party. The girls were asked to wear their "Sunday best" and to bring thier American girl dolls. I had decorated our formal dining room with Coconut decorations bought from American Girl. When the girls arrived they went to the dining room and started designing their crafts. I had purchased jewels of all sizes and glittery letters to decorate foam door hangers and foam crowns. I purchased plastic bowls from Wal-mart with a Valentine's heart design to hold the craft supply of jewels and letters. After the crafts, the girls made their way into the great room and each told a story about their American girl doll and had their picture taken. The girls made their way back to the dining room where I had placed lace doile placemats, lace gloves, and napkins with flower napkin holders. I served hot tea in a fancy teapot and kool-aid for those who did not want tea. They were so cute holding up their pinkies and drinking tea. I had purchased a birthday CD for background music which they sang along with. We then served finger sandwiches, mini-hotdogs wrapped in crescent rolls (this was a Coconut party!), vegetable tray, and chips and dip. For the pickier eaters, I also had pizza. After tea, the girls went to open presents. After presents, the girls were served cupcakes and sang "Happy Birthday" along the the CD. This was great! I had purchased all kinds of toppings for the cupcakes and the girls decorated their own cupcakes and ice cream. I had valentine sprinkles, candy hearts, chocolate chips, coconut, peanuts, starburst hearts, and kisses for toppings. The toppings were placed in valentine plastic bowls. The girls also played "Pin the butterfly on Coconut's nose." For party favors, they received pink with purple dot boxes filled with all sort of goodies. (valentine favors, lip gloss, glitter lotion, candy, etc). I had candy labels made to replace the hershey candy bar label with the American girl's pictures, my daugher's name and date. The ingredient label were party ingredients, such as Hugs and Kisses 100%, Friendship 100%, Serving size 9 years, etc. . It also had printed on it, " Made by Karlie for her American girl friends" The girls said that this was the best pary ever and they wanted to have one just like it. What a wonderful day for all of the girls!!
