Army Party
For my son's 6th birthday party we had a army party. We went to a cabin in the woods. ( but you could do this in your back yard) We sent out invitations that looked like "orders" to report to boot camp, with all the party info. on it. When the kids arrived we had them make their own "dog tags" out of small card board tags. Then we painted their faces with camouflage make up. We had then put on a camo. adults long sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up to get "in uniform". We had made an obstacle course with a "barbed wire" army crawl section, we took 18in dowels and pounded them into the ground and tied string back and forth to form the "barbed wire". There was an adult in the back ground firing of fire cracker to take the place of gun fire as they crawled under the "wire". We had then do a rope swing over a plastic pool. We had an Army recruiter come and be their Drill Sargent, so it was " real" but tons of fun. He also gave them a first aid lesson on what to do if a friend is hurt in the "field". We did a relay with 2 teams to fill a bucket with water using a canteen, one at a time. For the cake we had cup cakes that I decorated with "camo" icing, Mix green and brown, and dark chocolate to get the look. Then I topped each one with a little plastic army man. At the end we took pictures of everyone in "uniform" and roasted hot dogs on a stick over the fire. ( we had a lot of Dad's helping, since we had 24 kids that were 6) But all of them had a blast! For loot bags we gave them first aid kits they made themselves to take home.
