Army Party:  For my son's birthday, we decided on an army party.   Games: water balloon war - I constructed two walls (made out of cardboard and spray painted camouflage), then set up buckets full of water balloons, and the fight was on (tip: there is no such thing as too many water balloons).  obstacle course:  we made tunnels out of refrigerator boxes that we spray-painted, we took some garden stakes (8)and made to columns of 4. Then we attached string to the stakes by crisscrossing across so that the children had to crawl under.    Mission: Several missions were assigned for the soldiers that they had to complete to receive their "prize".  The missions ranged from rescuing some toys that were hidden around our house to finding lost shipments of food for that was to go to orphans, taking over the "bad" guys fort.  The children were given water-guns, etc to use. Food, favors, etc: The party favors:  army helmets, compasses, dog tags, binoculars  piñata: I had to make a soldier out of an astronaut piñata.  I filled the piñata with small plastic soldiers and candy as well as some small, cheap toys.  cake: I found a GI Joe cake pan and used that for one cake and the other cake was a sheet cake that had a road, lake, etc with soldiers placed strategically on the cake.  food: I found some dried rations for the children to try at a local army store such as ice cream the astronauts use. But I stayed with the basic "chow" of hamburgers/hotdogs, chips and dip, sour gummy worms, etc. invitations: I  took some camo. paper and cut out helmets that I attached part of the helmet to red card stock. The time, date, location, dress code, etc was on the card stock under the helmet.
