My daughter loved to color and paint, so for her third birthday we decided to have an arts and crafts party.  First I found stationary with a crayon border for invitations.  Then I made up a poem for them.- My name is Faron and I'm turning three. Won't you come and have a good time with me? We'll have big fun, and that's just to start.  I'm having a party thats all about art. So get ready to draw, color, and paint. I'm so excited I  just can't wait. Be sure and wear a big shirt to splatter, so if something gets on it, it really won't matter. Bring your big smiles, because we won't accept frowns, and at my artist jamboree well paint the town.-   I purchased giant inflatable crayons from oriental trading company and used them as anchors for helium balloon bouquets all around the house. However most of the action was in the back yard. I had tables set up as stations, and each had a different number and craft. At the first station I had purchased small childrens aprons and put the childs name at the bottom and "Handy Helper"  on the chest with a paint marker. Then we had each of the children dip their hands into fabric paint and stamp the aprons.  They turned out great.  The other stations included coloring pages that I printed off the internet, play dough, and sidewalk chalk. For the last station I went to my local meat market and they actually gave me a roll of butcher paper, which my husband stapled to the fence to cover it.  I then had bowls of tempera paint so they could finger paint a picture and a message to my daughter.  Be sure to have buckets of water and paper towels for the kids to clean up with.  I also numbered the kids off 1 through 5 so that we wouldn't have a lot of congestion at each station.  I gave them 10 minutes at each one and that was plenty of time for them to complete their projects.  At the end we took everyone's picture standing in front of the banner. It turned out great.       Afterwards, we went inside to eat.  We had hot dogs, and the kids got to use paint brushes to put their ketchup and mustard on with.  The colored ketchups are great for this.  I had a cake made for my daughter to blow out the candles, but the adults ate this one.  Instead, we gave the kids cupcakes frosted in different colors so that they looked like paint, and put them on an artist's palette (you can find these at your local craft store).  For favors I sent the kids home with a crayon mug filled with dum-dum suckers along with their aprons. My daughter still wears her apron when we make cookies as do many of the other kids.  The other moms still talk about what a great time their children had and Faron loves to pull out her pictures and look at them.
