Crayon/Coloring Party for 2 year old. My daughter just had her 2nd birthday and I decided most 2 year olds love to color so we focused our party on that idea. For invitations, I found cards on
crayola.com's website. There is no writing in the inside so I picked the one I liked the best (a girl blowing out candles on a cake) and wrote the text inside myself. On one side of the
invitation, I put "Lauren loves to color, will you help her have a colorful 2nd birthday? You can start by coloring this invitation". On the other side, I put the specifics of the
party and asked everyone to wear their favorite color. I saved everything on a disc and went to the local print shop and had the invitations printed on white card stock. I understand the kids
had a lot of fun coloring the invitations and it gave them something to look forward to. Some actually brought their invitations to the party and those I saved in her baby book. For the cake,
I cheated and had a bakery do the cake for me. Mostly because I'm not too crafty when it comes to cake decorating. They did a great job of doing a large crayon. I chose the color yellow and
where it would normally say "Crayola", I had them write "Happy 2nd Birthday Lauren". There is no way I could have done a better job! For decorations, we kept it pretty
simple since it was little kids. I covered all the tables with white butcher table so the kids could color and I taped the paper down so it wouldn't move around. I bought crayons at the
dollar store and was glad since most of them were either broken or chewed on at the party. I put crayons in cups and placed on each table (I had 3 tables) with a bunch of balloons tied to the
cup. I also tore sheets out of coloring books and placed those around the tables. Kids this age don't usually like to participate in activities but I had one for them as soon as they arrived.
I had a hard time finding goody bags that fit the theme. So I purchased brown (you could even use white if you find them) lunch bags. I wrote each child's name in block letters with a Sharpie
on the front of the bag. When they arrived at the party, I asked them (or parent if they were too small) to color their goody bag and give back to me to fill. This kept them busy until
everyone arrived. Most at least scribbled something on it and most moms said they'd save the bags for a keepsake with the invitation along with pictures. After opening gifts and eating cake
and ice cream, I filled each bag with a small coloring book, 8 count crayons, candy, horn, etc. I also told the kids they could color more on the bag once they got home. It turned out to be a
great party for such a young age. I had kids ranging in age from 18 months to 7 (my oldest child) and everyone had a blast. Everyone likes to color, even adults!!
