After going to two seperate spring birthdays where the children decorated easter eggs and the other where they dressed up for a tea party, my son, turning 5 at the time wanted a party (in
June) where the kids could dress in their Halloween costumes and decorate easter eggs.
The "Mixed-up-Holiday-birthday-party" was invented. Guest came in their Halloween costume. We had a christmas tree piniata, we dyed eggs,& went on an egg hunt. Instead of loot bags I bought dollar store gifts and wrapped them in Christmas paper. The $ store was a big help because by June they were practically giving away candy, decorations, and paper products from the past holidays. And if they only had 1 package of plates for each holiday, all the better. And a lot of the items I had left over anyway from that holiday. We had several little cakes. A christmas tree with M&M ornaments, a heart cake, and a shamrock cake made out of 4 small hearts touching at the point. It worked so well that when my 2nd son turned 5 we did the same party again.
