My friend had a backwards party when she turned 12! I gave her the idea and she loved it! I think you will too. Here is what you do: Send out invitations for a Backwards Party. Write the invitations backwards so they will have to look in the mirror to read them. Put in them that you have to wear your clothes on backwards and any other things needed. All of them came with their clothes on backwards and walking in the door backwards. Give each child a throw away camera so they can take pictures of each other. Open the gifts first! Some children taped the gift on the outside of the gift box or bag. It was a great surprise! Then you eat the cake. If you want to you can try putting th frosting on the inside! After that you can play games. Here are some great game ideas: Backwards Crab Walk- Put to chairs next to each other but spread them apart. Divide the children into 2 teams. What they have to do is crab walk BACKWARDS up to the chair, go around it and then crabwalk BACKWARDS back to their team. The first group to finish has to walk backwards to the prize box and pick a prize. (if you want to make it REALLY backwards have the losers get a prize. but dont tell them that until AFTER the game)This next game is an outside game: Backwards water balloon toss- Have the kids divide into partners. Have one child throw the water balloon behind their back and the other kid has to catch it. Each time they catch it, the have to take a step away from their partner. The winners that dont pop their balloon can walk backwards to the prize box. Buy little prizes or candy from a party store or dollar store. If you have a lunch, eat cake first. If you are making a sandwich, put the ham, cheese, turkey, etc. on the outside of the bread. Or you can make pizza and put bread on both sides of the toppings (like a sandwich). Give the kids a goodie bag with toys and candy and send them backwards to their parent! If it is a sleepover, have them get their pj's on backwards and let them sleep with their pillow under their feet! Decorate with balloons and streamers! I hope you have a backwards blast with this party! I know I did!
