My daughter wanted to have a Barbie Party but it wasn't her birthday. She had just received so many nice Barbie gifts from Christmas that she needed some friends to come over and play
with her. We talked about a sleepover too but that was a little much for me. She's only 7 and still a little young for all that.
Instead we opted for a Barbie Pajama Party. We made up invitations that read..."You're invited to a Barbie Pajama Party at Brittany's house. It's not her birthday, just a party to have fun with all her friends at bedtime. Please come over at 6pm Friday night wearing your favorite pajamas. Bring your pillow, a sleeping bag or blanket and a favorite Barbie doll with you to the party." We decorated the envelopes with lots of Barbie stickers to catch everyones attention. They were passed out at school and everyone came over that Friday. All the girls looked so cute in their Pajamas. I set up a table before hand with Barbie decorations from Wal-mart. I placed finger foods, snacks and drinks out. (Bagel Bites, Chicken nuggets, veggie sticks, chips, brownies and punch.) While they snacked they made a nightshirt for Barbie as a craft project. I found a really fun kit at the Dollar store that came with a shirt to decorate with glitter glue, stickers, markers, and beads. They were only a $1 each. How affordable. The girls loved the idea of their Barbies wearing PJ's just like them. I took pictures using my daughter's Barbie I-Zone Poloroid film camera. They pop out instant little pictures. I made little frames to tape them to. I printed the frames from Barbie.com. Next they were off to play in Barbie land in my daughter's bedroom. She had some houses set up and they all thought of ideas for stories to act out. Once they had enough of playing dolls they layed out their sleeping bags in front of the tv. I passed out popcorn and drinks while they watched some Barbie movies. If they didn't want to watch the movie they could color some pages I copied out of a Barbie coloring book. Or they could get on the computer and play one of the Barbie CD-Roms. By 9 o'clock their parents were here to pick them up and take them home. I sent them home with new nightshirts for their dolls and goodie bags filled with Barbie lollipops, gummy fruit snacks, their poloroid picture and print outs I made from the Barbie website. They have all sorts of frames, clothes, bookmarks and such you can print for free. I also bought a box of hot cocoa mix and labeled each package, "Barbie Cocoa"...Sweet dreams! I didn't want to send them home with to much candy since they would be going to bed soon. This seemed to be the perfect treat to end their night. It was a blast and so easy to do. The girls want to come over again for another night of fun. I would recommend doing this for a girls birthday party and adding a cake to the list of snacks. I hope this helps anyone looking for a fun little girls party.
