For my daughters 5th birthday party she wanted to have a Princess Barbie Party and since it was her 5th we wanted to go all out. We decided that we would have her party at a park so that we wouldn't have to clean up before and after, so we rented a local park. It had a slide and swing and other miscellaneous toys for after the games.  First, we sent out Princess Barbie invitations to about 20 of our friends and family.  Then, on the party day we decorated the park with balloons, streamers and table covers with the Barbie theme. We decorated the entrance of the gated park with a Barbie Happy Birthday Banner bought from the party store. We also wrote on a separate banner, Welcome to Brenna's Court Yard. It looked beautiful. We had all the plates, cups, napkins and assorted Princess Barbie accessories to glamour up the place. We went simple on the food because of the time of day (2-4 pm). We had chips and salsa, cookies, veggie platter and fruit salad. We had juice and water since we were outside. We wanted to keep the games simple because there would be kids of all ages and we wanted everyone to be able to win a prize so we played "Barbie Bingo" first. This is just like regular bingo but with Barbie Pictures on the cards. Then we played "Don't let Barbie Fall" ( balloons with Barbie on them-pat them in the air and don't let them fall to the ground).  This was great fun and the kids loved it.  Next, we played the "Barbie Walk".  We used the Barbie Wall hangings and had each child take two and they had to walk from one side of the park to the other (about 15-20 ft.). The trick was they could only step on the cut out and not on the  ground. This was good for the older ones but a little difficult for the younger ones.  It was very funny to watch though.  Our last game was very simple and a good cool down game to move on to cake and presents.  It was called "Barbie Baskets". I spray painted 5 coffee cans and hot glued some colored Barbie pictures on to them.  The cans were numbered from 1-5 (for points). Each child got 5 specially colored stones (a different magical color for each child). They each took turns tossing their magical stones into the Barbie Baskets. The 1st bucket was 3 ft. away, the 2nd was 6 ft. away and so on and so forth. Who ever had the most points won! Very fun and easy for all ages!  The prizes were a choice of fruit roll-ups, Nerd rope or Fun Dip. These kind of prizes are the best and very inexpensive. Next we decided to cut the cake. I bought a stand up doll cake (from Wiltons) and decorated her to look like the Barbie Princess on the invites and Thank you's. I also made cup cakes for each child and made Barbie Candy (from Wiltons Candy Molds section) and put them in the center of the cup cakes with the Barbie sprinkles. Each child also got their own candle to blow.  It was a very good idea! we decided not to have Ice cream  but Popsicle's instead-Purchased in bulk from Sam's Club. Next we opened presents. For the grand finale we had all the children line up behind the Birthday girl to smash the Piņata.  It was a Pink Star because there was no Barbie Piņata.  It was bought at www.Pinata.com.  Everyone got a hit and as tradition in our family holds, Brenna's Uncle had the final hit and the Candy and Toys were on the ground for scavangering by the children (daddy pulls the rope up and down). As the children were ready to leave, The birthday girl handed out the goody bags.  For the girls they each got a Barbie Goody bag with bubbles and either a Purple or Pink plastic purse (from Oriental Trading Co.-1.75 ea.) that was filled with nail polish, stick on earrings, lip gloss, body glitter, bracelets, some metallic rings and a necklace. It was  a huge hit! The Boys also got a Barbie Goody bag but theirs was filled with miscellaneous Dino toys and bubbles. The party was great and lots of fun!
