We has the best Barbie Princess party ever. It was my daughter, Amanda's, 4th birthday. As the quests arrived they were each greeted with a princess magic wand: made out of a
wooden dowel, pre-made foam stars and ribbons streaming from the wand, a pink gift bag(goodie bag) with their name written on it, to avoid any confusion later. We had them sit down at
Amanda's princess vanity and each quest received a make-over, which consisted of nail painting, lipstick(I purchased one for each of them) and little bit of blush.
I use cotton balls, not to transfer any germs. After the make over session, each princess proceeded to the dining room table for a craft session where they were able to decorate their very own tiara and make a door knob hanger for their room. I purchased fake jewels/gems and foam shapes to glue onto each project. I glitter glued each of their names on the door hanger, to save time and to let it dry ahead of time. This worked out really great because at four years of age their attention span is about 5-10 minutes if your lucky. Next we moved into the family room for games. They were asked to wear their tiaras and bring their bags and wands. We played four games: pin the tiara on Barbie, musical chairs,(passing the birthday girl's special wand) Barbie Bingo and Hot potato(using the wand as the potato). As each girl was eliminated during each game I awarded them with a small prize. This really was a great idea because I've been to so many parties were all the kids are crying because they didn't win. They were able to put each prize in their goodie bag along with their wand, door hanger and lipstick. We then moved into the kitchen where we had cake. A Barbie cake, of course. I made the Barbie cake where you stick the Barbie in the cake. It was very easy. I served it with strawberry ice cream too. My daughter sat in her royal gold chair, which I made by covering an old chair with gold shimmery material and I sprayed ball pit balls with gold spray and glued them to the top of the chair. I also glued jewels onto each ball to make it look like a thrown. I also made sure everything we served was pink. We had pink and white M&M's, cherry 7UP and pink lemonade. For the adults I served a fruit platter with a strawberry(pink)fluff/cream cheese dip. I had a variety of age 3-7yrs and all of these ideas worked great for all of them. One of the mom's asked if I could do her next party!!! Another suggested I be a kindergarten teacher because I was so organized, no way!!!!
