BARBIE and KEN BEACH PARTY (in February?!)
Our invitation read: Birthdays are hard when outside it's cold, But Chloe' soon will turn 4 years old. So come "hit the beach" with Barbie and Ken, And we'll let our "fun in the sun" begin. When Chloe' turns four, It will be no bore, As we eat cake and ice cream along the seashore. We had a Barbie and Ken Beach party in February for our 4 year old. Guests came in their swim wear and shed their coats once inside. They loved getting to do this in the middle of February. I set up activity centers that included SAND (in a small plastic pool we had sand and shovels, pails, etc.), and WATER (in a small pool I put water, bubbles, wands, fly swatters, etc.). Be prepared for the children to get in the water. We had plenty of beach towels on hand. We used one inflatable pool for GIFTS. We decorated the food table with a huge beach umbrella and beach towels. Foods included pineapple, cheese cubes, etc. on umbrella sticks - the kind you use in drinks. And we had hot dogs, chips and dip, cookies, etc. The birthday cake was great! We made a sheet cake with blue icing for water and the beach was icing and brown sugar. Right in the middle of the water was Pearl Beach Barbie on an inflatable float. Along the beach were her accessories - sunglasses, drink, beach bag, music box (these can be purchased in an individual pack). On each individual table we used sand pails with sand, shells, sunglasses, etc. for decoration - balloons were attached to the tilted sand pails. Another activity center was ART for painting sun visors. Each child decorated their sun visor that later became their party hat when we sang "Happy Birthday". We also had fishing (I used dowels with yarn and magnets attached). Our fish were made of construction paper and had magnets glued were the mouth would be. The party was great and our Thank You notes read: I'm so glad you came and splashed with me, You really were great company! I hope we'll have the chance again, To play about in the sand. Although it's such a pleasure, to receive gifts beyond measure, Best of all - I will recall - My friends --- the truest treasure!
