Since I have an older boy and both of my kids birthdays are a week apart I wanted my daughter 4th birthday (the first one by herself) to be the best GIRLY birthday party ever. She is into
dressing up and into Barbie so a fashion show was the obvious choice. We custom made her invitations (office max kits) with pink card stock, a picture of her dressed up holding her Barbie,
and a clear paper with the wording on that. I had a cute bow on it to keep it together. The wording said You are invited to Kira and Barbie Fashion Show" and asked to bring your favorite
Barbie to dress up too. The decorations for the party consisted of lots of pink and purple!! I picked up the plates from the local party store rented a pink and purple castle jumper rented a
kids table and chairs so the crafts would be easy
for their height had round tables for the adults and got together lots of dress up clothes. I also wanted to make a stage and runway for the girls to walk down so I got a roll of pink table covers (plastic roll) and taped it to the ground going down some stairs. Behind the runway I wanted it to look like a backdrop so i cut out letters spelling "Kira and Barbie's Fashion Show" out of white cardstock. I then painted them pink and purple (alternating words with the other color) and put pink/purple pock-a-dots on them. I finally outlined them with glitter so they would look like lights and taped them to a purple plastic table cloth and hung it up. My idea was when the girls walked down the runway I would take a picture with that as their backdrop. I set the kids table with purple tablecloths vases of pink roses and Barbie confetti. Each kids setting I taped paper white doilies and had a paper crown and Barbie blower on it. Hanging on the back of each chair was a Barbie purse that I purchased at a local Mattel outlet for $1.00 each. In each purse had candy bracelets necklaces and other little stuff. Once the girls starting arriving they were so excited to show each other their Barbie's. They took them with them in the bouncer and played till it was time to eat. I wanted to make that simple so i went with pizza chips veggies fruit and a pink sherbet punch. I knew the kids would not be interested in eating much (which i was right) so that is why I didn't spend much time in that department. Once they were done I had them come back so sit down and do their first craft. I went to Ikea and got the cheap wooden picture frames went to Wal-Mart and picked up jewels glue and foam stickers letters animals and crowns. Each girl LOVED being able to create their own picture frame and spell their own name on it. We let those dry and continued to the next activity. I had an easy-up up and hanging on hangers were lots of dress up clothes and shoes lined up on the ground table of more necklaces to choose from and my teenage sister there ready to put make up on the girls. Each girl got to pick out her own lipstick (not really any color in them) and she applied it to them and they got to keep it (hygiene). She put on eye shadow blush and lipstick. Then all the girls looking so dressed up and beautiful came back to the table to dress up their Barbie :). I handed each girl a new dress for their Barbie's and told them to put the other clothes in the purse hanging on their chairs. Each girl was so excited to dress up and have their Barbie's dress up. All the girls lined up one at a time and came down the runways with their purse and Barbie. I announced what they were wearing what their Barbie's were wearing and said where they were going (to a royal ball out shopping to the beach. Each girl stopped at the bottom of the stairs so I could take their picture with their Barbie (my backdrop in the back). Since I had a lot going on already I didn't have time to rent and Barbie so I had my friend call) and talk to Kira and her friends. They thought it was so special to have her know each of their names. The final activity was an pin the crown on Barbie (sticker crowns and a poster of Barbie). This was a good final activity for the end of a great day. We did cake and presents and the girls were so excited to take home the new Barbie clothes the purses with stuff in it and their picture frame. In Kira's thank you letters we sent them their picture of them and Barbie. I would suggest this party for around 10-16 girls. I shopped around to find the best prices on everything and did it on a budget. I received lots of compliments on how much stuff their was to do and adults saying that they wished they could have had a party like this when they were younger. My daughter loved it because it was so GIRLY!!!! "
