Barnyard Celebration for a Boy's 1st Birthday For invitations, we used a cut out of a horse (4x5") that had a real red bandana wrapped around it's neck and four strings for a tail. We invited everyone "Down on the Farm" for a Barnyard/BBQ celebration.  For decorations we had in our front yard two bails of hay with a scarecrow behind them. We had a decorative flag on a stand which had a picture of a rooster on it. We tied red, blue and white balloons to it. Next to the hay was an adult size four wheeler. On the front door we mounted a poster size picture of our son dressed up in overalls, a bandana and a cowboy hat next to a toy horse that said Welcome! at the bottom. When you walked in the front door there was a toy wagon filled with cowboy hats and bandanas for our guests to dress up in. Next to those we had an adult size pair of cowboy boots. Also, as you walked in there was a toy wooden rocking horse with a red bandana wrapped around it's neck. We decorated our back deck with bails of hay to provide extra seating in addition to our patio furniture. We placed diagonally two bandanas on top of each hay bail to make it more comfortable to sit on and also to make it look extra cute. We took galvenized vase sized buckets and filled them with sunflowers and also had a real horse saddle that sat on a horse stand.   For food and drinks. We provided beverages on the back deck. We put a mix of canned and boxed drinks and iced them down in a big silver galvenized bucket. For snacks as guests arrived, we had two silver galvenized buckets. One was filled with peanuts and the other was for the extra shells. We had Stamey's BBQ, baked beans, coleslaw, hushpuppies, hotdogs, macaroni and cheese for dinner. We used terricota plant holders decorated with a bandana type of ribbon around the top edge to hold silverware which was wrapped in a red/white checked napkin and tied with a red straw ribbon. We also used two other small terricota plant holders to hold the forks and spoons for cake and icecream and also to hold pinwheel straws. We used navy blue and red bandanas in baskets and buckets that were holding buns, untencils and odd items. We used the galvenized vases for flowers inside, too. The cake was a a white cake decorated with a barn and farm animals inside of it. Our son also had his own cake with a picture of the horses head and bandana from the invitation. We made homemade vanilla and peach ice cream and put them in a big silver galvenized bucket. For entertainment we had the four wheeler which had a large back on it that could hold 6-8 kids. They all went for rides around the yard and in our court. It was great for all ages, 1-10. They played with large, large bubble blowers that they could dip in and wave with their arms. We had a ploaroid camera and let each of the kids get up on the horse saddle with a friend and take a picture. Each child got to take a picture home with them.  Favors; We used a wide mix since the children were all ages. I gave everyone a burlap bag which had their name on the outside of it. The names were painted on a pig or cowbow hat which were little wooden figurines that I bought for 25 cents at Michaels Craft Store. I painted each one and used a paint pen to put their names on them. Cow pads, pens, candy necklaces, farm animal figurines, bath capsules that turned into farm animals, hand puppets that were farm animals (ducks and pigs) were among the favors that we gave to the kids.   Everyone had a ball and especially my one year old son. He screamed and cried when we took him off of the four wheeler. He also loved all of the decorations. IT was a huge hit for all!
