We a barnyard birthday party for my daughters 3rd party."Nellie's Barnyard Birthday Bash" I made the invitations with stickers and supplies from my local scrapbooking store. I tied them with brown twine. They read, "Quack, oink, cock-a-doodle doo it's Nellie's 3rd and she wants to celebrate with you. Everyone dressed in jeans and overalls. We had about 65 people. As the quests arrived I tied a bandana around their necks (children & adults) My husband had made children's CD's for all the children. They had songs having to do with animals on them so we had that CD playing during the party. I decorated with yellow & red balloons all over the place. I had bought about 20 blow up animals and had them stuck on metal posts all over the yard. I had a little section called "the little pig pen" I put some animal books and our little people farm on a blanket for the little babies. I got about 24 hay bales from a local farm, they only chared for the open bales so I returned most of them. I opened a couple and spread hay all over the hard. I used a couple for little tables with checkered clothes for the children to sit at. I used red & white checkered tables clothes for all rest of the tables. We had 3 big red & white striped tents. I put the hay bales in a semi circle and the children sat on the while we played games and opened gifts. We had 2 games. ( we only played one, we ran out of time for the other) Animal charades, we put the animal name in one pail and the names of parents in the other, the parents had to act them out and the children guessed. We were also going to play the pig balloon game. We had a big hay ride that went all around our neighborhood, even adults enjoyed, I think they all ended up going 3 times!!  We then had a petting farm come for the children. A goat, a baby lamb, chicks and 2 ponies.  The kid's enjoyed feeding the animals and each one had atleast 2 pony rides.  I took a picture of each child on the ponies for our thank you cards. I had also made a couple scare crows that each held a sign, saying things like "Old McNellie's Farm" "Moo Moo happy birthday to you"  " Cock-a-doodle doo were happy to see you" I made little laminated signs and put them around the food saying things like " chicken feed, pig muck etc... I also had signs saying " don't feed the animals"  Instead of a piņata we opened hay bales on a big tarp and had filled it with candy & toys. I had listed the children in groups according to age, from youngest to oldest they were given a bag and had 3 minutes per group to dig. They really enjoyed this. We had also filled big jars with candy & peanuts for the adults to quess at. I had made bags from checked fabric I had gotten for 1.00 a yard and filled them with candy and toys. They were each given a CD as they left. Everyone had a great time, It ended up being a long party but the time went very fast.
