Barnyard Party
For my son's 4th birthday we decided on a farm theme. Invitations were home made and stated that "All the cowboys and cowgirls come dressed in their best down on the farm attire!" We had a few baby ducks and sheep for the children to pet. We strung rope from trees, making a circle around the party area and hung balloons from the rope. We set out hay bales for seating in a large half circle and spread hay bales covering the grass in that area. Games: I broke up a hay bale and hid toys and treasures in it for them to find (I like games where all children get a prize). We hooked up a trailer to the John Deere tractor...it's a smaller one and put hay in the trailer, I took all the kids on tractor rides! We also set a saddle on a bale of hay for the children to sit on to pretend they were riding a horse! Each child received a pail full of pretzels, cheese puffs & bagel chips, the pail was just a sand bucket and I used scrapbooking stickers to spell "Chicken Feed" on all of them. For their goodie bags I put farm stickers, mini farm animals, bouncy balls & Sheriff badges all together and tied them up in a bandana. For food we had a BBQ with hamburgers, pigs in a blanket, potato salad and chips. We also had some bugs on a log.. (Celery with peanut butter and raisins). For my son's cake we made the dirt pudding in a 11x13 baking dish and instead of just gummy worms, I added some plastic pigs stuck in the mud! My son is begging me for another farm party this year for his birthday! We'll probably do it again! It's one I'm sure he'll never forget!
