Barnyard bash for my 4 year old in May of 2006.16 guests- I THINK My GAMES WERE THE MOST SUCCESSFUL PART OF THE PARTY!ESPECIALLY THE PIG TROUGH! Inviations- I cut out red barns from
construction paper and wrote the information inside the doors... Party favors- I purchased a couple of foam stamps on the shape of a barn, cow, horse, tractor, duck and pig at Joanns along
with red, black, brown, yellow, green and pink paint. White t-shirts in a 3 pack from Walmart and stamped a chain" of animals across the breast of each shirt. I put the tractor on the
sleeve with the guests name written underneath. The children wore them at the party to help set the scene. I also purchased cow print material and black ribbon at Joanns and cut out squares
sewed 3 sides and attached the ribbon for party favor bags. I purchased cow print pencils sheep pez candy dispensers(clearanced the day after easter) I also purchased farm animal visors from
Oriental traders and a roll of farm animal stickers. I do NOT reccomend the visors as they were of very poor quality but the kids did enjoye them! as a last favor I purchased a tractor candy
mold from the party store and melted old crayons in a coffee can. I poored it into the mold and each child took home an assorted 3 random color "Tractor Crayons" wrapped in a clear
bag with a bow and a "pig" stamp card that said "thank you for sharing in my barnyard mayhem" Decorations- red & white checked table cloths from the dollar store
red plates etc and red & white balloons LOTS OP THEM! and hay Games- PIG TROUGH -I took 4 long plastic window boxes and stuffed them with newspaper then covered them with aluminum foil. I
lined them up end to end and made a "Pig Trough". I scooped out balls of raspberry sherbert(before the party they sat in the freezer on a cookie sheet) and put on minimarshmellow
noses and chocolate chips for eyes and I also made pink "pig" cupcake faces. I put the pig icecreams/& cupcakes in the trough with spoons. Make sure you leave enough room for
each child! alternate them on each side to help with this. They loved eating like this and it provided the best photo opt when they all threw out their spoons and used their faces! What a
site to see them all sitting on the ground with thier little faces covered!
other games- #1-I hid several farm animals in a pile of hay and had the children dig for them after playing farmer in the dell. #2 I made a wooden ramp that led to our tree house which had become the "chicken coop" THe kids lined up at the bottom of the ramp pretending to be chickens. I had a freind pretend to sleep in a chair as the farmer with a basket of boiled eggs beside him. I told the chickens to snatch back their egg and go hide it in the chicken coop without waking the farmer. NO HANDS allowed they had to tuck in under their chin and run to the ramp and into the coop. They had a ton of fun with this. #3- Pig race i filled water bottles with pink water and painted little piggy faces on the bottle caps. I gave each child a stick and lined them up. They had to see who could get to the finish line first by pushing their pig with the stick. #4- Old fashioned potatoe sack race with burlap bags. This was sooooo much fun. after the games the kids played and did the pig trough and presents. FOOD- I did old fashioned hotdogs and baked beans potatoe salad chips and fruit. I did make a cake in the shape of a barn with little frosting animals all over it as well. Punch was blue with little rubber duckies floating in it and idea I got off of this site! "
