For my son's 2nd birthday, we are having a barnyard party.
I am making a barn cake placed on top of a large sheet cake frosted green, w/farm animals. I will give the children wood baskets w/"chicken feed" pretzel sticks, potato strings, candy corn and corn chex, with a chinelle chick on top. As the kids arrive, we will have hayrides w/a farm tractor and trailer. We will play pin the tail on the donkey, and have a three legged race. Every kid will get to make a farm animal magnet craft. I will place all of the pieces for each child's craft in a clear gift bag, then when they finish the craft, they will use their bags for an egg hunt. I bought a stuffed chicken and I will tell the kids that the "Charlie" the chicken has lost his babies, and he needs their help finding them. The eggs are mini Easter eggs, that I placed various numbers yellow pom-poms in. Whoever finds the most eggs gets to keep Charlie, and whoever finds the most "babies" gets a prize too. Then they will use their bags to find prizes in a haystack. I bought piņata filler-small toys and candy and small farm animals to hide in the hay. We bought our son a power wheels bubble tractor for his birthday, so after he opens presents, they can take turns riding that, and we will have more hayrides. The kids will go home with gift bags filled w/a farm scene sticker pack, bubbles, farm animal stickers, farm animal erasers, and candy, and the gift bags for the babies include a farm animal beanie, a farm animal sticker, a safe-t pop, and a rubber ducky eraser.
