I threw my two boys a Barnyard/Farmyard birthday party. It turned out so great.
All the guests wore overalls with red bandanas in the back pockets. I made a cow prop out of a sawhorse. We used it for the kids to take their picture with. I wrapped small plastic barnyard toys and some candy along with animal stickers in bandanas and gave them out as goodie bags. I also hid some small toys in hay for them to find. We had a hay ride for the kids as well. We also had pig races. I blew up pink balloons and drew a pig face on the front and curled a pink ribbon for a tail. We used fly swatters to slap them to the end of the lane and back to pass off to another person in line. The first group to finish wins. We also played sherades using farmyard animals. Each child had a turn to act out a farmyard animal for the other kids to guess. I also hid some plastic Easter eggs with yellow pom poms in side. The child with the most yellow pom poms wins. I had the kids decorate pails with barnyard animal stickers. We used the pails and the Easter eggs to play the egg toss game. Each child had to toss three eggs into the pail, the one who threw all three of their eggs into the pail the farthest won. For the dinner I served soup and cornbread for the adults and corndogs for the kids. I did not use party plates, I used tin pie plates. I served the drinks in a small old time wash tub. We also let each child ride our horse around in the pasture. We used hay and balloons to decorate with. I drew and cut out farmyard animals faces on white posterboard and taped them to the sides of trees. The kids had to follow a trail and squirt water with their water pistols at the animals. We also used several large boxes given to us by local stores and painted them red. We joined them all together, and decorated them to make one large barn for the kids to play in. The smile on the kids faces made it all worth wild. As for my two boys, I believe they will remember this birthday party for years to come.
