For my son's 2nd birthday party, we decided to go with a Barnyard theme!
It turned out really cute and the kids and adults alike, all had a great time. On the invitations we printed from our computer, we announced his barnyard bash with adorable pictures of pigs, ducks and cows, with bright red trim! Instead of traditional goodie bags, we set up activities for the children to receive prizes. Instead of a piņata, we had a toysearch in a haystack (I hid many toys, but it was really easy to find small stuffed barnyard animals and other toys that went with our theme). We had apple bobbing, a duck pond where more prizes were awarded, and a hay ride where the children looked for special "apples" we placed in the trees. When they spotted an apple, the hay ride stopped long enough for them to hop off and "pick" their apple. I wrapped candy and small prizes, along with a plastic worm, in pieces of red felt and tied them with a green pipe cleaner to look like the stem! For food, we had pigs in a blanket, chicken drummettes, devilled eggs, along with other snacks, and of coarse a cake made to look like a green pasture full of barnyard animals grazing. It really turned out to be one of the neatest themes I've picked yet for my 4 children's birthday parties and it was priceless to watch the excitement on all the little ones faces as they enjoyed my son's big day!
