We had a "Welcome Home" baseball themed party for our new "Babe" three weeks after he was born so family and friends could meet him. I sent out invitations on paper
that had a baseball field in the background and was trimmed with bats.
On it said, "Mia Frances is giving a cheer Her little teammate is finally here! / Mitchell Douglas / Game Day: July 15, 2003 / Game Time: 2:01 p.m. / Stats - Weight 8 lbs, 1 oz; Height - 21 inches / Coach & Manager – Jim & Melissa / Scouting Report - Long Bawl Threat / Please come and meet our newest acquisition! / DATE, TIME, ADDRESS / A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives - Jackie Robinson / We look forward to seeing you make an impact in our son's life. Your presence is our present!" I made two cakes - one round and one rectangle that I cut off the top in triangles so that it looked like home plate. The round cake I decorated like a baseball and it sait "All-Star Mitch" and the home plate said, "Welcome Home Mitch." We served stadium food - hot dogs, Frito pies, cracker jack, peanuts and bubble gum. There were no games except passing around our new little "Babe." Of course, it was on a Sunday afternoon and we had the TV tuned to a baseball game.
