Sports Theme - Baseball We just had a blast at my son's 6th birthday party.
We went to a minor league baseball game. The invitations were plastic baseballs with information printed with permanent marker. I placed them in small baseball themed gift bags and delivered them to the children's' houses. Before the game there was a baseball clinic at the park(held about three times each season) where the kids fielded grounders, got advice and autographs and wandered around the field (dugout, bullpen, pitcher's mound) with future baseball stars. When the game began, I gave each child a pair of baseball binoculars (USToys.com). I purchased concession tickets ahead of time so they all got a hot dog, chips and a drink. Fortunately, I was able to bring in additional snacks so they were occupies with peanuts, cracker jacks and sport-shaped cheese crackers. Instead of cake, I made oversized round sugar cookies and frosted them to look like baseballs. The whole section sang "Happy Birthday" during the seventh inning stretch. Each child got a goody bag (shaped like a baseball) with baseball cards, BB Bats (candy), baseball shaped chocolates, a baseball keychain, and a sports notepad. The thank you notes are shaped like baseball mitts. I found some clipart, enlarged it, printed it on cardstock and cut it out (a few to a page).
