We did a joint baseball party for my son and his friend.
The invitations looked like baseballs and I took the song "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" and changed the words. Invitations read: Take me out to a party, Take me out for some fun, Come to Walker and Turner's game, You won't care if you leave there the same, Well its root, root, root for the birthday boys, If you don't come it's a shame, for it's 1-2-3 times the fun at their old ball game. We had the party at a ball field at let the kids play baseball. We have a minor league baseball team so we asked one of the players to come out and sign autographs and do some drills with them. The birthday boys wore baseball shirts that said "birthday boy" on the back and their number was their age, i.e. 06 & 07. We rented a hot dog, a popcorn, and a cotton candy concession machines. They had a cake shaped like a baseball hat with their initial on it and cupcakes around the cake that looked like baseballs. We also served nachos and peanuts in the shell in small brown bags. Their goody bags were small white buckets that we painted a baseball and bat and filled them with cracker jacks, baseball cards, baseballs, Big League Gum, and an assortment of baseball items we purchased from Oriental Trading. Shop around to get the best deals. We found the buckets for $.25 each and found the cracker jacks and baseballs at the Dollar Store. Sams is also a great place for deals. The cake recipe can be found at www.familyfun.com.
