Batman birthday party for 6 year old.  We decorated with inexpensive halloween decorations, and put a bat symbol and a sign on the front door.  We had a batman training academy with an obstacles course (through tunnels, somersaults, up and over a ladder, pulling a tunnel toward you with a grappling hook, bouncing a ball, jumping on a small runner's trampoline). Once all the boys had done this a few times, we had to test their fighting skills and bat "echolocation" skills --with a pinata. After the pinata, they decorated bat planes (we found wooden bat shapes at the craft store, and glued a half of a black PVC pipe to the back and attached a wire hook).  Then they tested their flying skills by racing them down strings attached to our second story deck down to the yard.  After cake (a round yellow cake with a bat symbol sprinkled on with black sugar through a homemade stencil) and ice cream, we opened presents. Then it was time to award the graduates of the bat training academy with their utility belts...but the Riddler had stolen them. The kids had to solve a series of riddles and raced around the house from place to place to find the next clue. The TREASURE HUNT RIDDLES: "Riddle me this, riddle me that.  Who's afraid of the big black bat?"       (next clue was on a large bat decoration on the wall) "Like old mother hubbard, the bat's in the cupboard, Robin flew over the moon.  He caught the jest, now needs some rest. And so he went up to his room."  (next clue was on the bed in the bedroom) "Roses are red, so is this clue. Hurry and find this before it turns blue."      (go to the fridge) "Hickory dickory dock.  Batman's racing the clock.  The clock struck four, look behind the door.  Hickory dickory dock."   (next clue behind the pantry door.) "Batman's playing with his grappling hook.  But I think he needs an instruction book. Where would he find a book of this kind? Think hard, then go take a look."  (on the bookcase) "At the end of your quest lies a treasure chest, then you will have earned your rest.  Think...rub a dub-dub-dub, Batman needs a scrub. Then find it to prove you're the best."   (in the bathtub inside a treasure chest.) The kids found utility belts (made from backpack type straps found at the hobby store for $1 a yard, with small loops of black elastic sewn on, with 4 different "bat tools").  The kids LOVED the utility belts and wanted to do the obstacle course again and again, and wanted to keep racing their bat planes. The best party ever!
