Summer Fun Party/1 yr. - On my daughter's 1st birthday (in August) we did a Summer Fun party.  I started by printing out on yellow paper her invitation.  "Come have fun in the sun, Emily is turning ONE!  Fun will be had by all, if you can't make it give us a call."  I then cut out the paper with scrapbook scissors and taped it to a beach ball. The beach balls are cheap if you buy them through Oriental Trading Company (12 for $4.) Each guest received a colorful beachball in the mail.  I held the party outside. I decorated with yellow and fusha. I bought plates, napkins and cups with a smiling sun on them. I had Summer Beach Children's trail mix (cheerios = life floats, goldfish crackers= fish, Kix cereal= beach balls.)  I put a large bowl with fish decorated Dixie cups.  The kids loved having their own snack.  While the parents ate chips, nuts etc. I had juice boxes for easy clean up, lemonade, fruit salad, green salad, chip bags (lunch size) so the guests could choose the kind they wanted, and a 6 ft. sandwich.  Games:  A sandbox and mini swimming pool to wade in with adult supervision. Favors: The party favors were beach pails with a shovel.  I used a paint pen and wrote each child's name on the outside of the pail.  I also drew fish on the buckets.  Inside the pails I put bubbles, snack packs of goldfish crackers, sunglasses, Ocean themed fruit snacks, and rubber duckies.  We all had lots of fun and the kids had favors they will use and can eat at this age!
