For my daughters seventh birthday party I decided on a beach theme. However her birthday is in March so we had an indoor beach party. I had an afternoon party and moved my kitchen
table and set out a "picnic" area. A groovy table cloth turned into a picnic blanket. For each place setting there was a frisbee with a paper plate inside it. The
guests got to take the Frisbee's with them.
We ate lots of freezes and popsicles. We even made some Shirley Temple strawberry daiquiries. In each drink I put the little cocktail umbrellas. Out of yellow construction paper a made a huge sun with sunglasses on and a big smile and hung him high on the wall. On the invitation we had asked each guest to wear t-shirts and shorts and to bring a bathing suit. I fired up our two man Jacuzzi for the girls and they had loads of fun blowing bubbles and having a "shave the balloon" competition. We had a sea shell search, a hoola hoop contest, a skipping contest, and a bathing suit contest. I bought two beach balls and moved my breakables so they could have a game of beach volleyball. With masking tape I made a hopscotch game on the carpet for them. I also bought a game of ring toss. We painted toe nails and each girl got their own "temporary" glitter tattoo! For the grab bags I bought the pails with shovels and inside was peach candy, small bubbles container, sunglasses, three sticks of colored chalk, lipstick and some other odds and ends. After a good game of musical beach towels we had our "sunshine" cake and ice-cream. We of course had tons of Beach Boy tunes playing along with some other faves like Brittany Spears! For a craft I had found some seashell beads so the girls could take home a necklace and we had prizes for all the competitions which were bracelets and balls! It was great time!
