For my son's second b-day, I had a Blue's Clues theme. I found a Joe outfit at nickjr.com for him to wear. Most of the supplies for the craft projects were found at an educational supply store. I made each child a handy dandy notebook using red and yellow construction paper. I traced the disin from my son's notebook of the thinking chair. I found a pawprint hole punched and used it to make prints on the sheets in the notebook. I used red pipng for the binding (the one with wire). I outlined the cover to look like the thinking chair. I bought inexpensive crayons so that each child could have their own black crayon and placed the rest in their favor bag. I made a backdrop using a yellow sheet, put the thinking chair (found at Wal-Mart), made a sidetable drawer using a box, red, yellow, and orange constrution paper and outlined in black and made the face, placed a cut out of tickity standing on top of the table, a cut out of Periwinkle on the floor, and a shovel and pail with faces painted on and took each child's picture. I made frames to put them in using yellow foam and yellow clay. I made them to look like the frame in the show next to the thinking chair. I wrote the child's name with a blue glitter pen. I made Blue party hats with light blue construction paper. I cut out ears using the printable from nickjr.com.I colored in the spots, nose, mouth, and tongue to look just like Blue. I made a game from shovel and pail. I made bean bags using light blue felt filled with beans. I sponged a pawprint on each side with royal blue tempera paint. The object was to throw the bag into the pail using the shovel. I also sponged pawprints leading to the front door with a cut out of blue on the door. The children played a game of BC to figure out that it was time for birthday cake while a BC cd was playing. I had BC coloring books out. I painted a pawprint on their faces (and some of the adults) using a blue face paint marker. I served blue punch, blue cookies (some shaped like pawprints), hot dogs, chili, Blue's favorite snack (graham crackers), and frozen blue gelatin pops. They are made using blue jello, juice, boiling water, and sugar, poured into small cups, and put in th freezer, placing a popsicle stick in halfway through freezing time. For party favor bags, I made a pail using red cups, painting pail's face, hole punching the cups to put the white handle. I filled with their notebook, the colors, stickers, zipper pulls, fruit snacks, and a crazy straw to go with their BC cup I found at the party store. I found a BC straw which I gave to the birthday boy. The party was a big hit with the children and even the adults! The adults were most impressed with the frames, which I made stronger using cardboard and covered the backs with black construction paper and placed strips of magnetic tape for the refrigerator. The pictures were taken using a polaroid. I aslo took pictures with a BC camera I found online. I bought a BC photo memory book to place the b-day pictures. There are great web sites for cheap party supplies. He may not remember this party, but he sure did have a blast!! Some of the kids were still talking about it days after!
