I just had a 'Blue's Clues' themed party. It was two birthdays in one - our daughters are only a few weeks apart, turning 2 and 4.
Guests recieved their handmade invitations 2 weeks prior, with a picture of Blue on the front saying "guess who's invited to a birthday party?", a pawprint on the inside is the clue (along with the party information!). As guests arrive, they follow chalk pawprints to the door, which has pawprints made out of cardboard on it. Inside, I had made posters by printing off coloring pages off the net, then using these as a guide, cutting each character out of the appropriate cardboard; eg, on a large sheet of magenta color cardex, I painted swirls using slightly darker tinted magenta paint. Then I cut the shape of Blue out of baby blue cardex, cut her spots out of dark blue cardex, her nose and pawprint out of even darker cardex, tongue using pink cardex, eyes using white and purple cardex (her pupils are dark purple!). I glued Blue together using a Uhu stick, and glued Blue onto the magenta cardboard. The swirls gave it an authentic "Blue's Clues" background. It took a lot of time, but the posters did look magnificent. I have people asking me where I bought them from and if they can have them!! I also decorated with pale blue balloons with dark blue spots painted on them (water based paint works well)dark blue, and white balloons, streamers etc. GAMES: We played pass the parcel, with the prize being Blue's Clues figurines; Pin the paw print on blue, I painted Blue (minus paw) onto a sheet of mdf, made a paw print out of cardex, and they had to stick it on (blindfolded) using blue tack; mystery balloons - pop a balloon to find a clue, follow the clue to a treat (Blue's Clues figurine or paw print stamper) FOOD: Paw print cookies, chocolate truffles rolled in blue coconut (food dye), mini frankfurts, etc, for the cake, I partly defrosted vanilla ice cream, added blue food coloring, whipped it together, re-froze it in a rectangular pan, then turned it out and drew a paw print on it with pale blue sprinkles (I made a stencil for the sprinkles out of paper) It was a great day, and even the adults keep commenting on how much fun they had. Worth the effort!
