For my daughter's 1st birthday party on August 24, 2002, we are having a blue's clues party!  I have been planning and preparing for this since she was 6 months old.  For the menu, we are having finger foods. First there will be deviled eggs with paprika. I made a little sign that says "Deviled Eggs with Paprika" with a picture of the character Paprika.  This sign is glued to a blue Popsicle stick then stuck in green foam so it will stand up next to the tray.  Second, I will have chex mix in an actual red dog bowl with the same type of sign that says "Blue's Dog Food."  Third, I will make pigs-in-a-blanket out the  miniature sausages with a sign that says "Blue in a blanket." Of course we have a Blue's Clues cake that I purchased from a specialty bakery. It has a picture of Blue in the center with paw prints around the perimeter of the cake. There will also be a miniature cake for my daughter to get messy. And where there's cake, there's ice-cream.  We will have raspberry sorbert which is blue in color.  For the punch, we will have blue ice kool aid. For the decorations, I printed blue's large paw print from nickjr.com, and have cut them out to tape to the floor.  We have light and dark blue balloons that will fill the room. I bought a banner that has every character from the show that I will hang in the room.  I copied a color book page from nickjr.com of Blue and pasted it into Paint in my computer and used the colors to fill it in.  It is a picture of blue holding out his paw.  Then we flipped the picture so it would be the exact same but mirrored to the right and we colored it with Magenta's colors.  We will hang both Blue and Magenta above the main table where my daughter will sit with a Happy Birthday sign attached to each of their paws making it look like they are holding the sign.  I drew a mailbox on poster board and colored it the same colors as the character for the "Pin the Flag on Mailbox" game. I bought a red poster board that I used to make the flags.  I also have pictures of Blue, Periwinkle and Tickety that I will hang on the wall. We will also play Musical Thinking Chair.  It's played the same way as musical chairs. I bought a inflatable red chair that will be in the center of the other chairs.  The child who ends up in the last chair, the Thinking Chair, will be the winner and get a prize.  I made a tape from some of the blue's clues videos of the music, and this is what we will use for the game.  We bought blues clues tablecloths, plates, napkins, etc. also.  For the goodie bags, I found some inexpensive shovel and pails. The pail is red and the shovel is yellow just like the show. I bought some google eyes and glued them to the shovel and pail and drew on mouths with puff paint. They look just like the characters from the show.  Then I filled them with Blue's Clues stickers, candy, and other items. My daughter also has a Blue's Clues bib that says Happy 1st Birthday to wear.  I think it will be really cute and the kids will enjoy themselves.
