BLUE'S CLUES PARTY - 3 year old My son loves Blue's clues, so for his 3rd birthday, we had a Blue's Clues party. For my invitations, from a local craft store, I bought unpainted wooden dog cutouts and painted them with acrylic paint, to look like Blue, using a blue sharpie to outline the details. I then stamped dog prints with blue ink on cards made of white cardstock, and glued the cutout to the front, and wrote on the bottom "Guess who's having a party?". I stamped the party info on the back of the card (in blue ink of course.)  For decorations, I drew out templates of all of Blue's friends, (Magenta, Mailbox, etc.) on cardstock, then traced them out on various papers of cardstock and construction paper, and instead of coloring them with markers, I cut out the colors from paper. For example, I cut Pail out of red construction paper, used white to make his handle, a tiny yellow piece for his mouth and drew his eyes in.  It was more time consuming, but I did a few friends every night.  I even used google eyes for Magenta, Blue, Green Puppy and Mailbox. I used a dog bone cookie cutter to trace out bones on blue construction paper. I had all the shapes laminated at a local teacher school supply store. Of course I had tons of balloons and streamers in every shade of blue, and a few "Blue's Clues" mylar balloons. For lunch we had hot dogs, french fries, a fruit tray, leomande, and dog bone sugar cookies .  I spread a little frosting on them and sprinkled with sugar sprinkles. While waiting for everyone to arrive, I had the kids decorate blue paper lunch bags with feathers, markers, glitter and pompoms. These were set aside to dry for the scavanger hunt later.  After lunch, I planned for the kids to make "Tickety Tock" using paper plates and foam cutouts. I had cut out enough of Tickety's bells, alarm, feet and "hands", from blue and black foam sheets for everyone. Parents draw on his eyes and numbers on the front of the plate, then glue everything on, punch a hole in the center, and use a paper fastener for his "hands" so you can actually set time. I found the idea at www.family.go.com. I used a circle template and made 5 paws on blue construction paper, and put the paws around the yard. I set out the goodie baskets to the kids go around looking for the paw prints find them.  I had small bags of animal crackers, Blue's Clues gummy snacks, blue/raspberry fruit rollups, a small box of crayons, Blue's Clues memory packs, and Blue's Clues coloring books. I made a round cake with a Blue's Clues candle topper and 3 regular candles, and made cupcakes with Blue's Clues liners, and sprinkled them with Blue's Clues sprinkles, that I found at the local craft store.  The cupcakes were for the kids and they had ice cream cones, which were so much easier for them to handle. Because the group was of younger kids, they never settled down long enough to make the Tickety plate, because they were running around so much after lunch, so we did the scavanger hunt after cake and ice cream, and called it a day. We all had so much fun! Dad and I were exhausted, but my little boy is still talking about his Blue's Clues party, so it was all worth it!
