Hello.
My daughter just turned 4 years old and really wanted a "Bob the Builder" birthday party. What we came up with was a theme which went along with that at a relatively low cost. Our invitations were made on the computer, downloading construction graphics, and inside was the following poem, "Hello everyone, it's me, Molli Bea, we're having a party 'cause I'm no longer 3. A year's gone by and I'm gonna be 4, come to my house, & walk in through the door. Pizza & cake will be there for you, Games & fun, and even a craft too. February 24th is the party day I sure do hope, you can come and play. The party will be from 4 'til 6:30, Dress casual, 'cause you could get dirty." We lined the walkway to our house with the orange cones we borrowed from a friend who plays soccer, so it looked like a construction site. We had also downloaded pictures of the cast of "Bob the Builder" and mounted them on colored construction paper and placed them throughout the house. For our craft, I had gone to our craft store and bought wooden trucks (assorted) and paintbrushes, and paints. There was a craft table set up and as each child entered, they picked out their favorite color paint brush, and went downstairs to start their project. Once they were finished, the pizza was here, so it gave the trucks time to dry. The trucks also doubled as the party favors, along with the paintbrush. For Molli's cake, we bought a small "Little Tykes" dump truck. We made the truck "dump" onto a chocolate cake (15 x 11). By mixing another chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, cool whip and crushed Oreos, we made "dirt" spill from the dump truck into a pile onto the cake. We put candy corns around the pile to mark off the site and placed other toy trucks (flat bed, cement mixer, etc.), along with the people who came with the truck all along the cake and the cake board. The cake was a HUGE hit and was really very easy to make. Our daughter LOVED her party, and the trucks and the whole "Bob the Builder" theme. We did buy the table cloth and napkins from the "Bob the Builder" set. It was fun.
