For my daughters 7th birthday I decided to have a book club" birthday party. She invited all the girls of the moms in my book club. We decided to name the club "Reading Roses" since she loved reading and roses.  The INVITATION: included a poem explaining the theme: "Once upon a time In a land far away A little girl named Morgan was born one sunny day! She read lots of books enjoyed beautiful flowers too And one day decided that she should combine the two. So she created a book club: Reading Roses was the nameto bring her friends together read and play fun games. We hope you can join the party It will be such a great day All the girls together will make a beautiful bouquet!" DECORATIONS: Pink table cloth plates and napkins with flower designs.  ACTIVITIES: Each girl invited was provided a copy of the book "Rose's Garden" by Peter H. Reynolds.  The girls were asked to read the book at home and come to the party prepared to discuss the book.At the party the girls sat around the table. Each girl read a page of the story and then had a discussion.  Then they made paper roses from tissue paper and pipe cleaners which was what the children in "Roses' Garden" made. Everyone also made a book mark for their book.  I printed "Reading Roses" on the top of pink card stock paper. Each girl then got a printed picture of themselves along with flower stickers sequens and markers. They decorated their book mark and then I used clear shelf liner as a protective covering. Each girl then used green embordery floss and small pink/green/silver/rose shaped beads for the tassle of their book mark. Finally the girls filled out library card applicatons. These were taken home for their parents to bring to the local library to obtain their own library card. PARTY SNACKS: Small sandwiches cut into flower shapes with a cookie cutter along with veges cut into flower shapes punch with rose petal suspended in ice cubes. CAKE: cup cakes decorated in the shape of a rose and placed into a pink painted terra cotta pot in the center of the table.  Each cup cake was suspended in the pot with a large scewer and filled with green tissue paper for the blank spaces. FAVORS:At the end of the party the girls got pink favor bags with flower necklaces rings small flower pad of paper and pink pen. The girls were so excited to have their own "book club" and decided to continue this gathering every month at another childs house."
