For my son's first birthday party, we are having a Read-to-me themed party. He has many out of town relatives so we've asked each person to buy their favorite children's book and read it on a cassette tape. Every person will bring their books and tapes to the party and my husband and I will be able to play the tapes for our son and tell him the relative behind each voice.  The cake is a giant book and we are serving tea and brunch food.  The food is more for the adults as the children are only 1-2 years old. The party favors are some small picture books and a book in both Spanish and English as we live in Florida and some bookmarks.  We are excited because we'll be building his library and getting him to know his relatives at the same time.
