For my son's 2nd birthday, I wanted to have a party that he would be able to appreciate and participate. At this stage of my child's life, books were his favorite activity, so we had a "Storytime Party". The guest list were only 4 of my son's friends. Keeping the number of guest to a minimum was key to keeping the children's attention. The invited guest were asked to bring their child's favorite book.  My husband who is wonderful at storytime, read the books out loud to the parents and children. During the storytime I was taking Polaroid pictures of the guest while their book was being read. Guest with older siblings were also invited but we had planned age appropriate activities for them outside, separate from the Storytime.  My 4 year old son the older children played outside with the hose and on our playset. They were asked to come in for cake and ice cream.  The cake was decorated to look like a giant book. The party favors were the pictures that were taken throughout the party. The entire event lasted about 2 hours and my son had a great time.
