For my daughter's 3rd Birthday, we had a Ladybug Party. I made and copied the invitations from another moms idea from birthday party ideas.
I first printed the invitations (Come to Our Garden for a Bug Ball to Celebrate ___'s 3rd Birthday, We'll Waltz with the Butterflies, Boogie with the Bees, and Jitterbug with the Ladybugs). I then traced and cut 5 inch circles out of red card stock for the body and wings. Then I cut one of the red circles in half for the wings. I cut 3 inch circles out of black card stock for the head. I glued the head to the body and then tacked the wings to the top of the body, connecting the head, body, and wings. I glued wiggley eyes to the head and black spots on the wings. I found Ladybug plates and napkins and used red and black forks and spoons. I used red plastic tablecloths and taped black 3in circles to them and decorated with red and black balloons. I had a lady to make my cake. She made 4 round cakes each of different sizes and decorated them according to my napkin. I also made Ladybug antenna for their party hats. I hot glued black ribbon to a headband and then wrapped 2 black pipe cleaners around the headband and then hot glued red pom poms to the end of the pipe cleaners. For fun, we had a bug hunt. I found little plastic bugs at a party supplier store and hid them all over our yard. For party favors, I gave each child an insect box. I also found Candy Pez Dispenser that were Ladybugs, Caterpillars, Bees, and Worms and gave to each child as they left the party. This year Ladybugs were very popular so many children dressed in red and white some of the girls had ladybug dresses. My daughter wore a denim skort with ladybugs marching along the bottom and a white shirt with ladybugs embroidered around the neck and sleeve.
