Buggy Birthday Bash Our 3 year old had a buggy birthday party last year at our local park!
It was a Buggin' Good time! We sent invitations inviting everyone to boogie with the beetles using printed cardstock and searching out Bug stamps from our local post office. We decorated the picnic shelter with bright neon greens, yellows, pinks and blues. We hung cardboard bugs from the rafters and placed Large plastic bugs (I mean BIG) on the center of the tables. We purchased these from a local discount store. Every child had an inexpensive Bug Box (purchased at our local dollar store) with their name painted on it and a bug-decorated goodie bag filled with candy, bug stickers, and, of course, plastic bugs. We asked each child to bring a plain white t-shirt and gave them an opportunity to decorate it using craft paints and Bug stamps.... butterflies, bees, spiders, lady bugs, etc. It was cute! The kids LOVED them! We ordered a birthday cake from our local bakery with grass, blue sky and large leaves on each corner. Then we added some painted floral picks with bugs (dragon flies, butterflies and lady bugs) to the cake, giving it a GREAT 3-dimensional effect (NOTE: Be sure to remove the green, treated floral sticks and replace it with untreated doll pins!) For our final activity, we took everyone on a walk through the park woods with their bugs boxes and collected "specimens". Bzzzzz is the word!
