For my Daughters 2nd birthday we used a spring fling theme. I made invitations using the same pattern dragonflies as I used on the walls then on the wings (which opened) I wrote the party info! I decorated our walls with a border of flowers then we made an assortment of bugs flying around the house such as dragonflies, butterflies, ladybugs, bumblebees, caterpillars etc. I cut them out and decorated them individually adding glitter glue for a sparkly effect. Then we used modeling foam and my daughter rolled it out and we cut out butterflies and ladybugs, we let it dry and then painted them. I hung them in doorways in front of windows anywhere I could! I made table center pieces using a my daughters little wagon filling it with potting flowers and a pair of old garden gloves and a trowel. I placed pots of flowers outside and painted our front door with flowers and bugs! For the party excitement I had tables decorated in green plastic table clothes stamped with butterflies, ladybugs and of course flowers! On our napkins I used acrylic paints and stamped the same patterns! I used an assortment of colored plates, silverware and cups! for the craft I cut out butterfly masks out of foam and the kids decorated them with glitter glue, sequins, jewels, and pipe cleaner antennae. For games we played non-competitive bean bag tosses into a hand painted flower scene with the centers cut out. I made the bean bags into bumble bees out of old baby socks, I dyed them yellow filled them with rice colored black stripes then used a black pipe cleaner to tie it off and act as a stinger! We also played; stick the spot on the lady bug I cut out a ladybug shaped cardboard body and painted it red then added the head with antennas. We also played butterfly bowling I took empty waterbottles filled them with colored water added googly eyes to the caps then antennae out of pipe cleaners and tissue paper wings! For our cake we made cupcakes then frosted them and made a caterpillar using her two candles as the antennae. I set him in a pan of "grass"(died coconut)for food we had PB&J in flower shapes and butterflies deli sandwiches for adults. fresh fruit and veggies and a pineapple orange punch. For goodie treats the kids received their own watering can filled with a trowel, packet of seeds and butterfly stickers. Plus the mask they made. Thank Yous were Ladybug stamped cards and the same flower stamp! We had a Terrific party it was a lot of work but to see my daughters face when she walked into the room was something we will never forget! Plus all the bright colors made great pictures!
