My son is turning 2 and his favorite book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar, so that is the theme of his party. I made my own invitations using circles made of construction paper(green for the
body, one red for the head) and added feet, antenna, etc. It ended up looking just like the picture on the book cover. We will read the story, then have a scavenger hunt around the house to
find all the foods that the caterpillar eats(I have them colored and cut out). Once we find them we will use them to play a pin the food in the caterpillar's mouth game(again , I made it out
of construction paper on a big piece of tag board). I have butterflies for the children to decorate as well as another craft activity with a butterfly theme. The table will be set with all
primary colors and there will be a plastic caterpillar waiting on each child's plate. The cake will have a giant caterpillar on it and after we sing Happy birthday we will try and crack open
the butterfly piņata. For favors I have a mix of bug and butterfly themed stickers, toys etc.
