For my daughter's 2nd birthday, we did a Bumble Bee Theme.
I ordered invitations with a bee on it. They said, "Have you heard the buzz..? (Daughter's Name) is turning Two! Please
come to her Bee-Day Party". It was really cute.
I purchased yellow and black balloons and large bee mylar balloons.
I made a bee hive birthday cake from a mold that I
ordered from MarthaStewart.com. I also made cupcakes which I decorated with little painted wooden bees. I found the wooden bees at the craft store, then I hot glued them to popsicle stick
halves and stuck them in the center of the cupcake.
For lunch, I made a variety of cut-out sandwiches (PB&J, Nutella, chicken salad, turkey). For example, I made peanut butter and
jelly sandwiches using thin white bread then I cut them using a cookie cutter in the shape of a flower. I also made bee candies using mini pretzels and yellow candy melt candies. The pretzels
looked like the bee's wings. I placed the candies on top of the pretzels then baked them for 5 minutes until melted. Then I piped black frosting stripes using frosting that hardens when dry.
They were a hit.
My husband dress up as a bee then read a bee book for entertainment. I also set up pads of paper for each child then scattered crayons and stickers on the table for a
craft. I didn't want two year olds running around the house with glue or scissors. For the favors, I made bee hive sugar cookies and wrapped them up in little bags. Everyone loved the party.
Especially me..I mean..my daughter :-)
