Butterflies - 1 year old girl  My daughter's godmother hosted our first birthday party at her house. We had only family and close family friends, so it was a small party. The invitations were made on the computer - a collage of the girl over the past year in scrapbooking style with butterfly accents, with the party details in one of the photo spaces, then folded and sealed with a gold butterfly sticker and mailed (or dropped off... as they are family so we see them ALL the time).  The streamers were all lavendar, pink and iridescent white and at each "joint" of the streamers I hung a decorative fake lace styled plastic butterfly (originally white, which I'd spraypainted in shades of pink and lavendar and touched the edges of the wins and antennae with glitter).  The chandelier in the center of the table also featured these hanging at different heights and these were placed throughout the house on shelves, etc.  On the tv we had the home video from her past year running. The centerpiece was the pale pink rose one which we'd used at her christening/dedication - with butterflies added. The tablecloth and plates were probably meant for an older person as they were a very elegant design with gold highlights throughout, pale pink and lavendar roses and a large lavendar butterfly on it.   We served finger foods and had our drinks and frothy punch in another part of the room to create a good flow.  We had pink plastic ware, clear cups alternating with those that matched the other paper goods, and pink and lavendar napkins - folded like butterflies, of course, in the tongs of about 1/2 of the forks. Each child received a book of butterfly information at the kids food table to color as a quiet activity to do while eating (or waiting for the adults to finish eating). My sister in law read the buggy facts to them while they sat and ate and colored (most of the cousins are 4 yo or older boys!).    We played crysalis - in which each child picked an adult to wrap in toilet paper and the one who covered their adult the most in the 3 minutes was awarded the prize first. Every child received an iridescent bag filled with candy and tied with coordinating ribbon and a little lacey butterfly (these I found in the discount bin at the fabric store).   My mom made a beautiful pale pink cake decorated with pink roses and lollipop butterflies. We served this with strawberry and vanilla ice creams and butterfly sprinkles.  We had a tube which is shaped like a caterpiller set up for the boys to rough house in - in another room - while the girl opened her presents in the room with the video playing and the adults ate their dessert.    The lollipops on the cake were the same as the ones I'd wrapped in iridescent cellophane gift bags with a butterfly finger puppet for each child to take home. The adults each received a gift bag with pictures of them or their kids from the past year and scented soaps shaped like butterflies.   The thank you notes were purchased to match the paper goods. Enclosed in each note were pictures from the party of the recipient/their kids.
