Butterfly Party. For my daughters 5th birthday I was looking for a fun party that was different.  We came up with a Butterfly Party. The invitations said "Flutter on Over.... to Hayley's house for a Butterfly Bash.  Spread your wings and fly, Hayley's turning 5" I purchased glitter butterflies at the school supply store and hung them all over the house along with pink and purple streamers.  We also hung them all over outside. I purchased realistic looking butterflies from Oriental trading Co and placed them in small flower pots with pansies in them.I tied a pink and purple ribbon around each flower pot and used them to decorate the table. I also put extra butterflies all over the house.  I made a pink banner with construction paper and painted Happy Birthday Hayley and hung it on the garage by the Jolly jump.   I took pink construction paper and stamped large purple butterflies all over the paper for a really cool table cloth. I also had a bouquet of ballons with a large milar monarch butterfly for a centerpiece inside the house.  We set up stations for the party. We started by giving all the girls tatoos with butterflies.  We had a jolly jump so that kept the girls busy while I got the Butterfly Beauty Boutique ready.  I set up all kinds of make-up for the girls.  There were purple mirrors from the 99cent store, finger nail polish, lip stick, eye shadow, lotions, glitter. Since my daughters birthday is in January, I picked up some great after christmas deals on makeup sets and just took them apart for the party.  My daughter was really excited to get to keep all the leftovers. I had a large assortment of hair clips and holders all of course with butterflies. The girls had a blast. They just coming back to the table all afternoon. I had a big sister help out all the girls with their makeup and hair. For snacks I make fruit kabobs on skewers with butterflies from Oriental Trading. I stuck the kabos on a hallowed out watermelon with rind facing up so it looked like flying butterfies.  We had nector to drink and some pretzels. For the cake I made a large butterfly bu cutting a round cake in half and putting the rounded sides together and decorated it with all my daughters favorite color. I served ice cream cut out in the shapes of butterflies.  These were a big hit. We had chocolate and Neopolitian. Just buy ice cream in the box and make small slices and use a cookie cutter to cut out the shapes. Then each girl got a butterfly mask and streamers on a stick and we did a butterfly freeze dance. They were all so cute dancing in the back yard.  For the final game we had a butterfly hunt.  I glued fabric butterflies from Oriental Trading on small pieces of candy.  I must have done 200 pieces, it actually didn't take very long.  We sent all the girls to the jolly jump and hid the butterflies all over the lawn. We lined them up and sent them out. They were all a flutter catching as many butterflies as possible.  For the treat bags, I puchase  foam purses from Oriental Trading with butterfies on them.  There were actually a craft project but decided to do them my self and put each girls name on them.  They were really cute.  I put various butterflies things in them, their candy from the candy hunt, their masks and streamers from the freeze dance and some small lipstick and fingernail polish. It was a wonderful party.  It tooks some preplanning to get the treat bags made and purchase items on sale but it was well worth it. It was very unique and very girly and a party my daughter will really remember.
